Mr. Hartling was an important figure at Thorson Elementary.  He was welcoming, caring, thoughtful, but most importantly, he made everyone feel like they mattered.  Whether it was a student or a co-worker, he made you feel special.  Losing him has created a heartache that will live on for years, but he lived an amazing life that deserves to be remembered and celebrated.

My boys, Messer & Gavin Barrett, helped me design this shirt to wear not only at Mr Hartling's Celebration of Life, but also in memory of him and the legacy he has left.  It was thoughtfully and carefully planned out based on Mr. Hartlings passions (University of Minnesota - both the colors and the front design) as well as some of the things the kids loved about him (his caring words of encouragement and of course the full sized candy bars he handed out).
